FURTHER INTERNMENTS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CUIUSTCIIUivCH, Friday."*" Karl doosten, a former German Consul at Christchurch, has been arrested by the police authorities and handed over to the military police. He will be interned, probably at Somes Island. Captain C. V. Leeming, M.C., a Main Body man, has been appointed commandant of the internment camp at Ripa Island, where Luekner and Kirscheiss are to be confined. The measures taken for safeguarding the prisoners include the erection of a stockade and the establishment, on the island of an armed guard of sufficient strength to enable the prisoners to be guarded night and day. A well-known indent agent of Wellington, who traded under the name of Ler.nard and Co., and who is a German by birth, has been interned on Somes Island. A wine and spirit traveller n.'.med Zola also has been interned.
