AGRICULTURAL COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Masterton A. and P. Association's agricultural committee was held yesterday afternoon, there being present— Messrs E. Harper (chairman). H. Evans, A. B. Wood, D. McGregor, W. Perry, A. J .Percy, and G. Shaw. Messrs Harper and Shaw reported that it was undesirable to proceed with fencing the sections offered by the Sol--way syndicate for agricultural experiments." In their opinion experimental •work would tie the sections for too long a period, and defeat the primary object of the syndicate, which was to hand over to the Association the sale proceeds of the sections. It was decided to adopt the suggestion of Messrs Harper and Shaw. It was resolved that the Board of Agriculture be requested to take into immediate consideration a better scheme of agricultural experiments tkan at present conducted. The opmJk was expressed that under the pressystem of experiments on individual fSfrms, the experiments were not quite satisfactory. The committee consider that better results would be attained by means of central plots. A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Harper, Evans and McGregor, was appointed to obtain all possible information relative to an Agricultural High School for the Masterton district and report to the next meeting. Mr Harper reported that Mr Wood and he had expended the amount voted for the purchase of books for the Association's farmers' library, and had arranged for the delivery of monthly live stock journals at the Association 's office. Mr Harper expressed the opinion that members of the Association should make donations of books to tho Libjary ' ■
