MAURICEVILLE COUNTY.

The usual niouthly meeting of .he Council was held on Saturday, 29th April. Present—-Ors F. W H. Kummer (chairman), H. J. Dagg, C. Churchill Jackson, E. Pederseu, J. E. Perry aud O. Isaksou.

Correspondence was dealt with from A. Falkner, deprecating the impound ing of the sawmill bullocks at Kai paroro

From the Secretary of the Charitable Aid Board re old mau, Charlie Tongs, staciug that uo effort is being spared to secure his admission to a suitable home; also from Sanitary Inspector and others, on the same subject. luspector Cairns has now removed him in tho ambulance to the Mastertou Hosiut-al.

From J. Farrow. desiring his "thirds" speut ou the Kaiparoro-road. and complaining of the state in which the road is at present at the tramline crossing.

From Commissioner of Crown Lauds, informing the Council that the small reserves between the Kai-paroro-road aud the Makakhi river cauuofc be vested in the local body, as they have been gazetted for river bank protection purposes.

From A. Hausen, protesting against auy liberty beiue; granted to graze mill bullocks on Kaiparoro-road.—The Ranger aud Mr Farrow were present at the meeting:, aud more fully explained the position with regard to this matter, and it was afterwards resolved to notify Messrs and 00., suwmillers, that a prosecutiou will ensue if effective steps are not at once taken to restrain the mill bullocks from trespassing ou rhe road.

C. A. Wall wrote pointing out that water-tables require eleauiug out ou Mt. Bruce-road.—This will shortly be attended to.

It was resolved to apply for unpaid balance of graut for metalling Manga-tainoka-road.

Teuders will be invited for maintenance of Jackson's-road for a period of one year.

Accounts, amounting to £179 10s 9cl were passed for payment.
