An interesting and well-arranged home meeting of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held yesterday afternoon at the residence of Mrs Marlev, Chapel-street,there being a large attendance of members and friends. Mrs Burton, vice-president, presided.
The programme, which was in the hands of Mrs Anderson, local superintendent of home meetings, was much appreciated. The following contributed items :—Song, Mrs Auderson ; paper on "Temperance," Miss Wingate; song, Mrs Falla; reading, Mrs Mar'.ey ; address. Mrs Devonport.
The opportunity was taken to wel come Mrs Serpell, who lias been ap pointed a vice-president of the Union.
Mrs Coradiue and several strangers were also heartily welcomed.
It was decided to write to Mrs Tai Te Tan, expressing the sympathy of the Union with her in her recent severe illness.
A dainty afternoon tea was provided by trie hostess. Mrs Marley, to whom a hoarty vote of thanks, was passed for her kind hospitality.
