TECHNICAL SCHOOL.

MEETING OF MANAGERS

The ordinary meeting of the Managers of the MastertonTechnical School was held last night. There were present: —Messrs E. Feist (presiding), W. H. Jackson, C. E. Dauiell aud E. H. Waddingtou. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was dealt with as follows: — From the Treasury, forwarding capitation for the technical and continuation classes totalling £117 14s 6d, and subsidy on the voluntary contributions to funds of the associated technical classes at Mastertou amouutiug to £167 (is 3d. From the secretary of the Education Board, couveyiug their thanks for the offer of the Managers of their woolclassing room and equipment for school purposes. —Received.

From S. Wood, instructor for the wool classes, thanking the Managers for their testimonial sent him and for the bonus of £s.—Received.

From E. Harper, acknowledging the receipt of a cheque for £9 16s for the sale of wool supplied to the wool classes. —Received. From the luspector-Geueral of Schools, stating that John A. Duffill liad passed stage I. in the examiuatiou for buildiug coustrucciou and drawing, aud tnat Leouard B. Bradstock had passed stage 11. in the examination iv human physiology.—Received. From S. N. Campbell,stating he had instructed Messrs McLeod aud Young to forward a number of Pitmau's weekiy journals, hoping they would be of use to the students.— Received with thanks. From Ernest P. Fentou, Aucklaud, applying for the position of art master at the Mastertou Technical School. —Mr Feuton to be requested to fill in a proper application form, and to forsvard certificates. The questiou of getting some more typewriters for the commercial classes was held over till after the election of Managers for the eusumg year. Mr Jackson brought up the question of further improviug the approach to the Technical School. He thought that a donation m the shape of tar could be obtained, from the Borough Council, and moved that a sub-com-mittee, comprising himself aud Mr Dauiell, be set up with power to have the work dove.—Carried. It was decided that the aunual meeting be held on Friday, February 18th, at 8 p.m., and that the Borough Council, County Council and Trust Lands Trust be asked to nominate members. Following is. the treasurer's statement to February 3rd . —Receipts: To sale of wool aud skins, £24 3s 6d; fees on accouut of third term, 1909, £21 15s; rent for rooms, matriculatiou examination, £4; grant from Mastertou County Couucil, £25; capitation on account of second terra., 1909, £55 17s 9d ; supply ou voluntary contributions to September, 1909, £92 13s 4d; capitation on accouut of third term, 1909, £61 16s 9d ; douatiou in aid of wholenesses from H. Morrison, £5; grant from department on account of apparatus, £3 4s 8d; capitation on account senior free pupils, 1909, £6 4s; capitation on accouut junior free pupils, 1909, £90 19s 3d; subsidy ou voluntary contributions to December, 1909, £74 123 Ud; total, £465 7s 2d. Expenditure : By salaries third term, 1909, £167 10s; sundry accounts, £4 12s 3d; gas account, £1 19s 4d; Trust Lands rent, £1; imprest account, 1909, cleaning, etc., £26 9s IOd; refund to Messrs Holmes Bros., wool supplied, £9 16s; refund to Mr A. MacKay, £3 ls 3d; overdraft at date of last meeting, £21 2s; balance at date, February 3rd, 1910, £229 16s fid; total, £465 7s 2d.
