The Mutual Trading Company oi Carterton are to sell at the Town Hall, Martinborough, at 2 p.m. on Saturday next, fifty-four sectious in tho Martinborough Town District, aud well kuowu locally as Mrs Sutherland's Estate. This property is situated opposite the Presbyterian Church, and, although tho ouly building upou it is Mrs Sutherland's house, tho business part of the town extends some distance further from the Square. The laud is well placed for surface drainage, ami the reading is well arranged. During the last few years the Martiuborough inhabitants have realised that this towu has au importance that was not previously thought of, aud thoy have, in consequence, oloctod progressive men to the new Town Couucil, aud the stroet improvements aro a striking result. A high-pressure wator supply is now arranged for, aud in due course drainage aud lightiug will follow. The ratepayers havo realised that a railway will pay, aud if it cauuot be obtaiued as a State railway it must bo provided by tho Couuty. Martinborough is surrouudod by good land, and the Tawaha aud Dyer Settlements have just beeu opeued out aud settled by hives of iudustrious settlers, who to all appearance are well on the way to prosperity. This not only assures a good trade to Martinborough, but, beiug Government leaseholds, are practically set aside for farm purposes ouly, and thus assures property owners of Martiuborough that no rival towu can spring up. Several new business premises are in coarse of erection, and are to be of brick, with everything up-to-date. We are requested to poiut out that the terms are exceptionally easy, being ten per cent, cash, ten per cent, in six months, aud the balance iv five years at five per ceut. interest.
