GLADSTONE NOTES.

(Special to Daily Times.)

The heat has been very oppressive the last few days. On Tuesday the thermometer registered 90 degrees in the shade. Rain is needed badly by the crops. The hills, which a week or two ago were beautiful and green, have now a very scorched appearance. Most of the householders' tanks are dry, and they are carting water from the creeks. The roads, too, are suffering with the dry weather and the traffic of wool and timber waggons and sheep driven to aud fro constantly. They are consequently very rough and dusty.
