The Wairarapa and East Coast Pastoral and Agricultural Society have decided to erect swing hurdles for the competitions at the Show.
A consignment of two hundred fat lambs from Mr W. Howard Booth's Carrington station were sent to Ngahaurauga Freezing Works on Thursday morning.
As Mr B. Wadharn was driving a brake, laden with bone-dust, along Belvedere-road, Carterton., on Thursday morning, the hind axle snapped off flush with the near wheel box. The wheel fell on the road, and the rear end of the vehicle came down, and the pole, unable to bear the strain, broke clean off at the butt. With the aid of some passers-by, the driver released the horses before they took fright, and no further damage resulted.
Mr R. Barton, of Pirinoa, has been sworn in as a Justice of the Peace.
The Featherston Bowling Club officially opened their green for the season on Thursday afternoon, in the presence of a fair number of members, and a number of games was played.
