Sydney, Last Night.

The Federal Arbitration Court is investigating a claim by the Merchant Service Guide of Australia for amelioration of existing conditions regarding rates of pay and hours of work, which are stated to have become intolerable. The Commonwealth Steamship owners resist the claim.

A point has been raised Avhether there is an industrial dispute within the meaning of the Act and this is now under discussion.
