A Heavy Sentence

AIVKLAND, This Day
At the Supreme Court, a man named Frank Herbert Laing pleaded guilty to contracting several debts with Auckland business people without reasonable prospect of paying, and with contributing to his buikruptcy by rash and hazardous speculations and gambling. He was sentenced to two years hard labour.
