THE HUGARDES.
The Hugardes will commence their season of two nights at the Town Hall this evening. The Evening Post, speaking of their initial performance, said: —" The 'Vanishing Lady' illusion, which concluded the first part' of the programme, was even more mysterious than any of the other turns so far presented that night. The lady in question is covered by a cloak, and, on removal of this, her chair is seen to be empty. She is subsequently produced from a box which has been suspended from the ceiling, in full view of the audience, since the opening of the scene. Again a large glass tank is filled with water, on this being covered with a cloth for a few r seconds, and the cloth then being whisked away, there is disclosed to view a young lady who steps out dripping from the transparent bath, while the mystery of her immersion remains unsolved." The Hugardes also havo the illusions of' Creation,'' The Embarrassed Conjuror," the marvellous "Thumb-tie and ring" besides the extraordinary feat of invulnerability, which was performed before the Governor on September 21st. On this occasion the Governor brought along a marked 303 regulation rifle bullet, which was fired from a rifle at Mr Hugarde, who caught it. Besides the above the Hugardes have a strong supporting company of vocalists, together with a cinematograph. The box plan is open at Miss Rive's. Prices, 3<i, 2s, Is ; Children half-price.
