The Show Committee of the Farmers' Union met on Saturday, Mr Moss occupying the Chair.
A discussion as to whether it was advisable to have the Show and outside sports on different days was settled by a resolution to run on the same lines as last year.
The date of the Show was fixed for March Ist. The Stewards were appointed the same as last year. A new section was put in for children's exhibits, to be in charge of Messrs Keam and Hickman. Several prizes were increased in value. Mr W. B. Mathieson was appointed a special Steward to regulate the number of people in the hall when entries are being received and tabled. The following judges were appointed : Fancy work, Mrs Vossler; pastry, Mrs Pelting ; fruit and vegetables, Mr Eddie; flowers and pot plants, Mr Horton ; field events, Mr Macara. It was also decided to ask the tradespeople to close at 12 o'clock on Show day.
The Kia Toa Football Club had a most successful dance on Thursday night, nearly fifty couples being present. The universal verdict was that it was a very pleasant and enjoyable gathering.
