A Barque Ashore.

Dunedin, Last Night.

Nows has been received that the barque County of Ay r(Captain Tulloch), which sailed yesterday for Lyttelton with part of her original cargo from Port Esperanco, has been wrecked at the" mouth of tho Shag River, north of Shag Point.

Particulars to hand are, so fa"r, moagro. From Palmerston South it is stated that up till 7 o'clock none of tho crew had got ashore. One of tho masts broke off, and the

sea was piling her up,

The vessel, it is said, drifted ashore this morning from Shag Point. However, it is reported that a boat got ashore with the captain's wifo and daughter.

The fog is too dense to permit of sending a tug from Port Chalmers, but possibly tho Talune, which left for tho North in tho afternoon, may bo ablo to render assistance if any is required.

As soon as tho fog lifts tho lug Koputai will leave Port Chalmers to go to tho assistance of the vessel.
