Entries for all events (except Guineas, Trial Plate, ancl Maiden Scurry) for the Taratahi-Carterton Racing Club's annual race-meeting, which takes place on 9th ancl 10th November, are clue with Mr J. B. Bairstow (secretary) at 9 p.m. on Monday, October 23rd. The Carterton telegraph office closes at 5 p.m.
J. McComb is engaged to ride Golden Knight in the New Zealand Cup.
Mr S. Green's mare Gladsome won the October Stakes, one mile ancl a-quarter, at the V.R.C. October meeting, Torah and Jargoon filling second and third places respectively. The Seaton Delav'el mare started favourite at 3 to 1, and won by a length and a-quarter. Time, 2min lOsec.
Dingo and Sultana are engaged in the steeplechase events at the V.R.C. forthcoming meeting.
Ostachkof,- who landed a race each day at the Dunedin J.C. Spring Meeting, is a brother to Ostiak.
The Yaldhurst cast-off, St. Michael, won the North Otago Cup on Thursday. He paid a dividend of £5 Bs.
Lady Wallace, by Wallace—Lady Mostyn, who won the Caulfield Guineas, on Saturday last, is engaged in the Victorian Derby, to be run on the first Saturday in November. -
" Wager."—Carbine was bred by the New Zealand Stud Company. He was purchased by the Duke of Portland for 13,500 guineas.
Now that the V.R.C. and the V.A.T.C. refuse to accept entries from Mr J. Wren or his trainer, the former has decided to sell
his horses,
Dandalla, who won the Toorak Handicap at Caulfield, on Saturday last, is a son of the defunct St. Swithin, who was bred and raced in New Zealand by the Hon. George M'Lean. St. Swithin was a son of Cadogan out of the Traducer—Mermaid mare Malice.
Mr Stead received a cable message from Johannesburg last week, asking him to put a price on Nightfall, Noctuiform, Isolt and Sungod. The reply was that the horses were not for sale.
Maniapoto has been nominated for three weight for-age events at the V.R.C. Spring Meeting. They are' the Melbourne Stakes, C. B. Fisher Plate, and Flying Stakes.
Ebullition, who won the Debutante Stakes at Caulfield, is a son of Simmer and the Carbine mare Corbelle. As a yearling he was bought for three hundred guineas.
