Revolt of Natives

The National Zeitung reports that tho Natives on the whole of the southern portion of German Cameroons have risen in revolt.
[Cameroons are a territory on the Bight of Biafra, West Africa, annexed by Germany in 1884. Its coast line oxtonds for about 200 miles along the Bight, and inland it is bounded by Nigeria on the north-west and French territory on the south and west. It, is administered as a German Protectorate by an Imperial Governor, and there is a local representative council. The capital is Bue'a, but the chief town is Cameroon. Cacao and tobacco are grown, rubber is exported, and a flourishing trade is carried on in ivory and palm-oil. Cocoa is becoming a considerable export. A Plantation Company has taken up a concession of about 34,000 sqare miles, and is developing it, having commenced a railway from Victoria to Moliko and Lisoka. Area 191,130 square, miles, population 4,000,000 of whom about 670 are Europeans. Revenue and expenditure, 1903, £.183,275, including £79,130 Imperial subsidy. Exports, 1902, £306,600; imports, £649,800.J
