Newspaper Reporter Killed Instantaneously.

Dunebik, This Day.

The members of the Otago Harbour Board and visitors went down to the Heads, yesterday afternoon, to inspect the works and witness a big blast. The blast consisted of 8001bs of gun powder in a drive 40ft long. The blast blew out, sending a shower of stones along the jetty. Mr F. A. Joseph, reporter of the Otago Daily Times, was hit on the head and killed instantaneously ; Mr E. G. Allen, M.H.R., was wounded on the ankle, though not seriously ; and Mr Patrick Ryan was struck with a stone and had his arm broken.
