HASTWELL NOTES.
■ ———♦— —■ —■ — (From Our Own Correspondent.) A draughts match, between members of the Mangamahoe Draughts Club and the Hastvvell Social Club, took place here on Tuesday last, and proved very interesting, Hastwell winning by only one game. The players were fairly well matched, four games, with nine a-side', being played. The following is the resuh:— Miss Whiting beat Miss McKenzie, Geo. Jones tied with W. Seymour, H. Wiles beat J. Reehal, W. Cochrane tied with O. Isakson, H. Larsen beaten by C. Reehal, F. Phillips beat T. Weston, J. Whiting beaten by A. Olsen, W, Bubb beaten by S. Bray, T. Whiting beat A. Johnston. Hastwell 16, Mangamahoe 15, and 5 drawn games. Light refreshments provided by the lady members of the Club were handed round at the close of the game. A return match is to bo played at Mangamahoe in a month's time. A very interesting marriage was solemnised at the Wesleyan Church, North Mauriceville, on Friday afternoon, when Mr Jens Peter Sigvertsen, son of Mr Jens Sigvertsen, of Featherston, was married to Miss Betty LarseD, eldest daughter of Mr Lars Larsen, of North Mauriceville. Many guests and friends witnessed the ceremony, which was performed by the Eev. Worboys. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked extremely well in her travelling costume of cigar brown cloth, with vest of white silk and chiffon, brown and white velvet toque trimmed lace and lilac flowers. In place of the usual orange blossoms she wore a spray of heather and carried a bouquet of white primroses and yiolets. Her bridesmaids were her sister, Miss Emma Larsen, and Miss Maren Sigverston (sister of the bridegroom), both looking very nice in blue cloth dresses strapped with glace silk, velvet toques with autumn leaves. Mr J. Sigversten acted as best man. The party, to the number of 130, adjourned to the residence of the bride's father, where a sumptuous breakfast wa3 provided. Jn the evening a dance was held, A few of the guests present were ; Mrs Sigvertsen (mother of bridegroom), who wore black silk with black hat, maroon trimming; Mrs Larsen (bride's mother), also in black silk; Mrs O. Anderson, black merv, point lace collar, black chiffon toque; Misses Anderson, vavy blue coffee coat, silk strappings, chiffon toques; Mrs O. Ammunscn, cardinal blouse, velvet trimmings, grey skirt, black toque; Mrs W. Seymour, blue joulard blouse, black skirt; Miss Olsen, prune velvet dress, toque-trimmed black and gold sequins; Miss Fredricksen, navy joulard, burnt straw hat, trimmed poppies and velvet ; Miss A. Isaksen, pearl grey dress, pink chiffon chou, dark blue toque; Miss Sorensen, violet velvet dress, chiffon toque ; Miss Anderson, black figured silk, velvet hat.
