EKETAHUNA COUNTY COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of tho Eketahuna County Council was held on Saturday. Presont: Crs. F. C. Tumor (chairman), T. Moss, B. Morriss, E. O. F. Yon Eedon, A. J. Stouewigg, D. Pit- j caithly, Higgins and P. Dowsett. The Finance Committee reported : I Balance to County Fund, £170 4s 5d ; j Govt. Loans Account, £116 7s ; accounts passed for payment, .£lB4 la 3d. Mr Cowlam waited on the Council to ask that a poll be taken to raise money for footpaths in Parkville. Mr Parsons thought that tho road should bo widened at the same time. The Chairman thought that another meeting should be cedled. He thought that the Council would assist if the road was widened. Mr Cowlam said that if the Council would give him an assurance of support he would call another meeting. Tho ratepayers had expressd a decided opinion in favour of footpaths. He thought that the residents had a right to study their own convenience. It was resolved to take a poll for £700 for footpaths. Mr T. Parsons and Mr H. C. Robinson, solicitor, waited on the Council on behalf of the Dairy Union, re closing Jackson-street. The Chairman read a letter from tho Survey Department, calling attontion to Bection 21. —Resolved to inform tho Survey Department Chat the road does go to the stream, but not parallel with it. Mr Parsons asked the Council to declare the road closed. It was finally decided that the Department be asked to declare it closed. CORRESPONDENCE. From L. Luoni, asking Council to repair culvert on Makakahi-road.—Re-solved that there is no money availiblo. From Mr Mowbray, that his road was in very bad order, and asking Council to expend £5. He reminded the Council that they had promised to do so before. —Resolved to inform Mr Mowbray that the thirds with which to do the work had not yet come to hand. From the Wellington Benevolent Society re contributions.—Resolved to support the resolution to alter the representation. From Mr Greenfield, asking for permission to remove gravel from Rongokokako pit to gravel his approaches.— Resolved not to grant permission. From settlers on Mari's-road, asking the Council to expend the balance of loan on tho approaches to bridge.—Resolved to grant the request. From Mr Weston, asking for five loads of gravel from Newman pit.—Declined. From Railway Depaitment, stating that instructions had been given to keep the road to the station in repair. From J. W. Mathieson, asking tho Council to repair road leading to the Oddfellows' Hall and Anglican Church. —Resolved to repair the road. From Mr Docherty, asking for some repairs on his road. —Resolved to leave the matter in the hands of tho Overseer. The Health Officer reported five cases of scarlatina. Tbe Overseer's report was read and adopted. EESOLVED. To sue owners of pigs trespassing on the Makakahi-road, at Kaiparoro. To ask the Government to complete the metalling of Bells-road.
