«. The first match in the Booth Challenge Cup was played at Carfcerton yesterday between four rinks of tho Cartcrton and Masterton Clubs, the former scoring a heavy win of 100 to 56. The visitors were hospitably treated, and, although defeated, had a most pleasant outing. At the conclusion of the day, Dr Johnson, on behalf of the home Club, extended their heartiest thanks to Mr W. Booth for the gift of tho handsome cup. On behalf of tho Masterton Club, Mr J. P. Elliot also spoke in eulogistic terms of Mr Booth's generosity, and, while complimenting the Cartorton players on the success that day, expressed the hope that the Clubs would be in a revorsed position on the occasion of tho return game.
