GREYTOWN BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The annual fortnightly meeting of tfl9L Council was held on Monday evening. s Present—His Worship the Mayor, and 3rs liaillie, Udy, Gray, Wakelin, Kempton, jun., Fuller, Barnard, and R. V. Smith. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE—INWARDS. From the Minister of Public Works, re Waiohine Railway 'Bridge. From Mr Paytnn, in connection -with accounts unpaid by the Council, contracted in the forming of the IJorough. From Dr Spratt, referring to the same matter, REPORTS. From the Overseer, monthly report. From Committee of Works, reporting on the Papawai Road, and footway in Mainstreet. The Town Clerk reported that Mr Barrock would pay 4s per week for the"cottage on gravel reserve. It was resolved on the motion of Or Kempton, seconded by Or baillie, that the Clerk take over the Immigrants' Cotfages and properly. Or Wakelin moved, Cr Kempton seconded that the accounts referred to by Messrs Pay ton and Spratt be paid. Cr iiaillie moved as an amendment, seconded by Cr Gray, ihat the accounts lie paid by the committee that contracts them. The amendment was put and carried. Tt was resolved on the motion « of Or Baillie, seconded by Cr Kempton, ' that Mr Dock be appointed valuer. —That the report of the Works Committee re footpatli and Papawai be adopted, and tenders called for at once,—That the rent of Darrock's house date from the time he received payment for same, Cr Baillie reported that Mr McMaster requested the Council to repair portions of East-street. It was referred to the Works Committee. This concluded the business.
