The “Daily .Telegraph” heartily congratulates , Jones on winning the world’s premier golfing event in the face of the fiercest opposition from British and American professionals. Bobby Jones is the most amazing golfer of all time, and is now dual champion of Britain and America. Hfc is in every way worthy of the honour.. He is extremely modest, and shuns limelight like the plague. When 10,000 people acclaimed his victory, he ran off and shut himself up in a corner of the emoke room. The magnitude of the victory stunned him, for he was engaged in a titanic struggle against only one man, Watrous, who happened to be his partner. Both were on the verge of collapse in the fourth round. Jones still was two strokes behind at the 14th, after which he kept Watrous playing the odd, for the latter took three putts at the 14th, 15th, 17th, and 18th holes.
