Invercaiigill, March 7.

Several deputations waited on Sir George Grey to-day, one of merchants and impor - ters, relative to the bonus on rabbit skins They pointed out how the £500 on the Estimates were miserably insufficient to. meet the claims already estalished, and that the Act distinctly provided for a halfpenny per skin. Sir George Grey promised to consider the question.

In a deputation from the Bluff Harbor Board about Sir J. Coode's visit, Sir G. Grey s aid Sir John Co ode had been engaged (or a lump sum by the Australians, and if New Zealnnd desired to benefit by his advice they would have to pay pro rata. He thought that the cost to the Colony would not exceed £1500, or about £300 each for the harbors to be inspected. He also thought it ought to be made a colonial question, if the Assembly vsmld pass the amount, but if not the various harbors would be responsible.

A deputation from Winton re the two proposed branch lines to the Night Cap Coal Reserves, and one from Winton to Nantan. The deputation presented a requisition which Sir G. Grey promised to consider with his colleagues.

A deputation from Invcrcargill To»\n Council spoke about sundry loc il macto'-s, notable, one re water supply. Sir George Grey promised to send one of the Government engineers to advise the Council, conditionally on his expenses being paid.
