Mr Parkes ; and that Mr Tighe, member for Northumberland, shall succeed Mr Docker as Postmaster- General. The Ministerial party have determined to nominate one of their supporters for the office of Chairman of Committees. It is ilot quite certain, however, whether. .their nominee will be Mi- John Fitzgefaid .Burns, member for the Hunter, or Mr Robert Wisdom, of the Lower Hunter ; but it will be one of the .two. •'_■.' .: The. A moonlight promenade concert was held in the Domain last night, for the benefit of the Randwick ' Asj'ium. It was a great success. About 4000 persons were present. 8 p.m. — A circuit court at Albury has been established by proclamation. It is reported that the Opposition intend to move an amendment on the Governor's address at the re-opening of Parliament. Oct.; 3; The magistrates have determined to send Dr Carr, the electro-biologist, to trial for the alleged criminal assault upon a married woman named. Eliza Gray. Dr Carr was at once bailed out. Oct. 5. The banks have resolved to fix the rate of exchange on London for the outgoing mail at half per cent, premium, buying draffa at one per cent, discount. The rate of interest to be allowed by the banks upon fixed deposits has been reduced by a half percent. The Day Dawn from California, brings dates to the 30th July.- Her cargo consists of 7736 sacks of wheat. 6 p m. — His Excellency Earl Belmore and party have left Sydney for the Illawarra district, and will formally open the new harbour works just completed at Wollongong. 7 p.m. — Mr Brookes has declined to contest the election with Mr Tighe, the newly-appointed Postmastrr-General ; but Mr Adam, of Newcastle, intends to come forward in the Opposition interest, in the hope of gaining the seat. October 6. Advantage was taken to-day of the completion of Mr Mort's new stores to have a general dinner in honor of colonial industries. bill of fair included colonial wine?, Mr Fallen's, of Albury, being the principal samples; the Panbula Company's preserved meats, Munn's maizena, and such like productions of New South Wales. . Mr Mort was in China (in the. chair ?), and his exertions in the cause of native industry were cordially acknowledged. The dinner gave great satisfaction to those present. The Governor will entertain a mnv.ber of members at Government House on Monday, the i2th inst: It is stated in Ministerial circles that Mr Parkes has no intention of coalescing with Mr Robertson, the leader of the Opposition, although a. report fo that effect had gained currency. Several, public officials have been, suspended, through their accouuts not being satisfactory to the Inspector of Public Accounts.
The report that Mr Martin, the Premier, intends to leave towards the end of the year on a visit to England, is contradicted. His Excellency the Governor formally opened the new harbor at Wollongong today, in tl»o presence of a large mmiber of persons, many of whom were excursionists from Sydney. - ■ Sailed : Rangatira, s., for Melbourne. A man named Hay ward has been arrested at Maitland, and remanded to Melbourne, on a charge of having sto'en some jewellery }j the property of a Mr Beshkey, of Inverleigh, near Gcelong. Mr Black, formerly Presbyterian minister at Murrurrundi, has decided upon opposing the election of Mr Tighe, the newly-appointed Postmaster-General, in the Opposition interest. Messrs Adams and Brboke3 have both withdrawn from the contest.

The Government, have issued circulars to their supporters, requesting their attendance at the opening of Parliament, when business of great importance is to be brought forward.
