K Force Allowed To Send Gift Parcels Up To £5 Duty Free
WELLINGTON, Last Night .(PA).— There will be no customs duty payable in respect of presents to a value of £5 sent by members of K Force to relatives or friends in New Zealand, and where the value of such gifts exceeds £5, an allowance of £5 will be made in assessing the value for duty. This decision, which is in line with procedure during the 1914-18 war and the recent war up to the return of J Force from Japan, was announced today by the Minister of Customs (Mr Bowden).
The Minister emphasised that the concession applied only to bona fide gifts for the use of the addressees and had no relation to any other goods which, if imported in breach of the Import Control Regulations, 1938, or the Customs Act, 1913, would be liable to seizure and forfeiture.
