Farewell To Clerk Of Parliaments

WELLINGTON, Last Night (FA)— A farewell gathering held at Parliament Buildings today represented the ending of a remarkable family record in the service of Parliament. A presentation was made to Mr C. M. Bothamley, Clerk of Parliaments, whose retirement follows upon the abolition of the Legislative Council. His father, Mr A. T. Bothamley, joined the service of the Legislature 89 years ago. Mr Bothamley senior’s eldest son, Mr G. F. Bothamley, joined the staff in 1906 and became Clerk of the House of Representatives, from which position he retired in 1946. Mr C. M. Bothamley, who was farewelled today, joined the staff in 1917 and has completed 33 years’ service. Friends of Mr Bothamley wished him well in his retirement, and the Clerk of the House of Representatives (Mr H. N. Dollimore) made a suitable presentation.
