FOUR SOVIET SECRET SERVICE MEN ALWAYS WITH U.S.A. DIPLOMAT

WASHINGTON, Dec. 19 (Reed. 6pm).—Mr Alan Kirk, American Ambassador to Russia, said today that four Soviet secret service men accompanied him wherever he went to Moscow. The Russians told him the guard was for his protecticn. Mr Kirk said his only audience witn Stalin was in August, 1949. The only other time he had seen the Soviet leader was at a distance last June. “He looked strong and active and fully as alert as he did at our 1949 meeting,” said Mr Kirk. Mr Kirk called on President 'Truman today. He is now on his first visit to Washington since he was appointed Ambassador in June, 1949.
