Italian Aid For Yugoslavia
LONDON, Dec. 20 (Recd. 6pm).— Messages from Trieste say that 18 wagons of flour from the Economic Co-operation Administration stocks in Italy passed through Trieste on their way to Yugoslavia as the first part of a shipment of 35,000 tons which Italy will cede to Yugoslavia out of her Marshall Aid reserve. The arrival of the consignment coincided with the departure from Trieste of the Marshall Aid Control Mission, which crossed into Yugoslavia to supervise the distribution of American aid. Yugoslavia has not officially joined the Marshall Plan, but members ot the Control Commission were officials of the E.C.A. in Rome and Paris. Meanwhile, the Cominform has, intensified propaganda against Tito. The Prague radio stated that the loan contracted by the Yugoslav Government with the Western countries had far surpassed Yugoslavia’s economic resources, and that as a result every Yugoslav would be indebted to the tune of about fISO. "The Tinies" correspondent in Trieste says the tenor of Cominform propaganda in the Balkans has swerved from promises of an early internal uprising in Yugoslavia that would sweep away the Tito regime, to threats of “American aggression.” with particular emphasis on "phovocatory incidents" along the satellite borders with Yugoslavia.--Special NZPA Correspondent.
