Gordon Richards Again Champion U.K. Jockey
LONDON, Nov. 18 (Reed. 6.lopm) Gordon Richards was champion jockey for the 23rd time when the flat racing season ended today. Richards rode 201 winners from 872 mounts—his lowest total of winners in peace-time since 1936. Richards has now ridden 4167 winners during his career easily a world record. He is 46 years ° £ France made practically a clealE sweep of racing honours. M. Marcel Boussac was top owner and breeder. As owner he won 11 English races, worth a total of £57,044 As breeder M. Boussac headed the list with li wins worth £59,309. M Boussac’s trainer, Charles Semblat, one-time leading French jockey, headed the trainers’ list, although he did not set foot in England throughout the season. French horses won a record amount in stake-money—£lo2,4l2 - from 23 The 18-ycar-old stallion Fair lrl al, owned by Mr J. A. Dewar, headed the sires' list for the first time with £37,S 8 lowest total for champion sire in peace-time since 1936.
