WIN FOR GOLDSTRIKE IN MAIN GREYMOUTH RACE

GREYM’OUTH, Last Night (PA).— The Greymouth Jockey Club’s spring meeting was held in perfect weather before a large crowd and on a fast track. Goldstrike outclassed the field in the main event to win his fourth race for the season. The veteran Flying Orders had an overdue win in the open sprint. The very promising young Light Brigade horse Red Chase was unlucky to be beaten by Dealer’s Choice in the Mawhera Trot, but won the Cobden Trot with a magnificent performance after breaking early in the race and again inside the final furlong. The winning doubles combination, Ulster Queen and Flying Orders, returned £l7O 9s for £l. The totalisator handled £21,658, including £1650 on the doubles tote, aga : .nst £13,503 10s on the first day of the June meeting last year. There was no spring meeting last year.
