Cruelty to Animals was aajuaged by popuiar vote to be the b-st in the nov-lty section of me decoraum ta_ies en display in the dining room o. the Rutland uotel. The victoria league's entry was voted as being the oest In the Classical section.
The display, whicn opened on Wednesday and concluded Rst nigne, was arran o ed by the wanganui ora.icn ot the Blanket Soc.ety m an effort to raise lunds.
Total proceedas re expected to exceed £2OO, but the actual figure was not known last night.
People visiting the display during the three days it was open deposit.<l money in voting boxes, one penny counting as a vote. The display was well supported by women’s org .n.sations and other interests in the City, and the attendance was large each day. The president of the Wanganui branch of the Plunket Society, Mrs. H. D. Robertson, said last night that she was very pleased with the result and the generous support given by the public. Mrs. Robertson added that she wished to thank all who had assisted in any w. y. The society was particularly grateful to Mr. and Mrs. T. Hurley, of the Rutland Hotel, for making the diningroom available.
