DISTRICT SMALLBORE RIFLE LOCAL AND OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

About 70 competitors took part in the local and open championships conducted by the Wanganui District Smallbore Rifle Association on Saturday at the R.S.A. range. Competitors from Wellington, Palmerston North, Levin, Mangamahu, Bulls, Poroutawhao, Marton, Bush, Hastings and all district clubs took part. Winner of the A grade aggregate and trophy was R. Sinclair (Castlecliff) 99.6, 99.6, 100.9—298.21; N. Rees (Palmerston North) was second with 98.4, 99.6, 100.7—297.17. Third was C. E. Every (Palmerston North) 98.6, 100.6, 99.4—297.16. Winner of the B grade district championship was N. Moosman (Citizens) 289.15. Mrs. R. Rusden (Castlecliff) 289.10 was second and J. GovenIdck (Whangaehu) 284.5 was third. B grade open championship: G. Holder (Marton) 296.20, 1; R. Keats (Mangamahu) 291.18, 2; C. Udy (Mangamahu) 291.14, 3. C grade district championship. A. Chapman (Municipal) 286.8, 1; J. Wallace (Municipal) 284.9, 2; N. Fromont (Citizens) 281.10, 3.

Winners of the pairs match were C. Every and N. Rees (Palmerston North) with 395.21; Miss v Anderson (Westmere) and N. Rees .’44.24; Miss Y. Anderson and T. Kendall (Palmerston North) 393.25.
