American Tourists May Travel By Air When Aorangi Goes Off

PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Last Night <PA) —The withdrawal of the Aorangi from the passenger service between North America and New Zealand is unlikely to reduce New Zealand’s dol-lar-earning from tourists to any great extent, said the Minister of Tourist and Health Resorts (Mr Doldge) tonight. ~ He said that the Tourist Department’s hope, which was shared by the airlines, was that tourists contemplating visiting the South Pacific would now travel by air instead of sea. The Minister referred to the steady improvement in the air services and the increasing comfort of air travel. He said he felt there would still be a steady inflow of dollar tourists and that, while the Aorangi’s withdrawal was to be deplored, it should not detrimentally affect the tourist traffic from North America.
