Labourer Arrested As Sequel To Death Of Maori
GISBORNE, Last Night (PA).— Following investigations by DotoctiveSergt. Waterson into an incident at Tokomaru Bay on May 6, Donald McMillan. aged 25, single, labourer, was charged with manslaughter before Mr. A. Morgan, J.P., in Tokomaru Bay tonight. McMillan was charged that on May 6 at. Tokomaru Bay. by an unlawful art, by assaulting Tc Whetu Kotnnkomo Pewhairangi, he caused Pewhairangi’s death on May 7, thereby committing manslaughter. Accused was remanded, to appear at Gisborne on June 1 Bail was allowed. Pewiiairangi, a Maori, aged 32, single, labourer. died in the To Puia Hospital at. 1.30 a.m. on May 7.
