BRITAIN AND CANADA SAID TO BE ABLE TO MAKE OWN ATOM BOMBS
LONDON. July 25 (Recd. 6pm). The science editor of the “News Chronicle,” Mr Ritchie Calder, says Britain and Canada are now both in a position to make atom bombs if they want to do so. This is the reason for the recent secret discussions in Washington, and advice reported to have been Riven by General Eisenhower that the United States should share its atom secrets with the United Kingdom. Mr Calder says the sharing of information would not be one-way traffic, as the British and Canadians may well have something to teach the Americans. Another factor causing Americans concern is that now Britain and Canada are in a position to make their own atom bombs they may become competitors for uranium supplies.—Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.
