Anglers Keen To Try Their Luck In Virginia Lake

Virginia Lake is considered by anglers to have good possibilities for sport and the Wanganui Acclimatisation Society last night at its annual meeting decided to recommend to the incoming council that the matter of anglers being permittee, to fish there should be taken up with the Wanganui City Council.

"There are quite good fish in thp lake,” said a member, who added that he could not see how fishing would do any harm to the clucks. He considered that fishing might add to the popularity of the reserve. Another member stated that many years ago hoys used to get permission "from the council to fish in the lake but no fishing had been permitted for about 20 years.
