Nelson Player Leads In Draughts Championship

PALMERSTON NORTH, Last Night (P.A.) —The New Zealand draughts championship has now reached the ninth round, there being six rounds to play. J. Mulvey, the prominent Nelson player, who did so well to beat Calderwood on Saturday, is still leading at the end of today’s play, a half-point ahead of Calderwood. Prince (Wanganui) and Whitehead (Palmerston North) are both a half-point behind Calderwood.

Points to lhe end of the eighth round are: Mulvey 135, Calderwood (Hamilton) 13, Whitehead 12, Prince 12, Davis (W'hangarei) 10, Johnstone
