BREAKING AND ENTERING CHARGE FOLLOWS A STRUGGLE WITH DRAPER

AUCKLAND, Yesterday (P.A.)—A man who was admitted to hospital after a struggle with the owner of a draper’s shop on Saturday night has been charged with breaking and entering.

Robert John Whitton investigated a light in his Ponsonby shop about 9 o'clock and saw a man descending the steps into a yard at the back of the shop. When Whitton spoke, the man struck at him and ran away.

Whitton cornered lhe man, picked up a piece of wood, and hit him. The police arrived and arrested the man on a charge of breaking and entering Whitton’s shop and he was taken to hospital, where he was admitted suffering from concussion.
