WANGANUI BOXING SEASON OPENS TOMORROW NIGHT
The Wanganui Boxing Association will open its 1949 season tomorrow night in the Opera House, when a professional middleweight contest between Bob Brown (Auckland) and Don Murray (Wanganui) is scheduled to go ten two-minute rounds. Both men have undergone a thorough preparation and a keen and close bout is in prospect. The following amateur bouts will precede the star contest:- Lightweight; Denne (Wanganui) v. Tunnicliffe (Feilding); welterweight: Murphy (Wanganui) v. Wade (Feilding); Lock (Wanganui) v. McNab ‘Feilding), Frew (Wanganui) v. Gibbons (Ma.ton); middleweight: Stanford 'Wanganui) v. Sykes (Palmerston North): heavyweight: Davey (Tau-; narunul) v. Tua -Feilding).
