Marton Sale
The Farmers’ Distributing Co. Ltd., report having held their bi-weekly sale at Marton. There was a bencn of buyers from Feilding, Hunterviile, Wanganui, Palmerston and local districts. The 4 and 5-year ewes yarded were big framed, well woolled with a fair even mouth and realised 37s Id while a line of forward conditioned shern b.f. Jambs made 28s 7d with smaller sorts selling down to 25s 3d. The cattle yarding was the best seen for some time and competition througout was keen, with the 2i-year P.A. steers selling at £l4 Ils. The 20-months P.A. steers made from £ll to £ll 13, with 20 months P.A. heifers selling to £9 Is. Smaller 20 months P.A. heifers sold down to £6. About 50 head of yearling Jersey weane r heifers met with a mixed reception. Good quality, well grown sorts sold at £7 7s with medium .sorts at £6 to £6 9s. The smaller heifers and those lacking condition and breeding were harder to quit but found buyers at from £4 to £5 9s. Because of Anzac Day, the next Marton sale will be held in one month’s time —May 9. Entries now being received.
