Manuaweka Sale
The New Zealand Farmers’ Distributing Co. Ltd. report a highly successful clearance of both sheep and cattle at the Mangaweka sale, conducted last Thursday. Sheep opened up cautiously but after a few pens were knocked down competition brightened and one of the briskest sales of the season eventuated. Good w.f. wether lambs made from 29s 4d to 32s 9d, medium sorts 27s 7d to 28s 9d with culls selling down to 23s 3d. The ewe lambs penned were of medium quality only, yet sold well at from 36s to 37s 4d, with small sorts down to 31s lOd. The advertised wethers were well grown and meaty with a good fleece and sold from 39s 6d to 43s 4d. Black face lambs realised from 26s 4d to 28s 7ci while 2-tooth ewes R.W. S.D. rams made 51s. Mixed aged ewes R.W. Rom. ram made 40s 9d. The cattle penned for the most part showed quality and condition and realised from £l6 to £l6 18s, for the Land f. bullocks, with the 3 off cattle making £l5 12s. Empty P.A. 31-year he:.in prime condition made £l3 7s 6c| while the fat P.A. cows made £l2 12s. Other 21-year cattle realised £ll 15s to £l2 15s.
