Farewell And Presentations To Y.W.C.A. Secretary

Members ol clubs in the Wanganui Y.M.-Y.W.C.A., the women's committee and the board o£ management met in the Y.W.C.A. lounge on Thursday night to farewell the general secretary, Miss F. V. Sim, who leaves late this month to attend a training course at the World's Y.W.C.A. in Geneva. She will later do a two-year term of duty in England. " . Miss Sim was met on her arrival by Miss Christian Alexander, president of the senior girls’ club, Business Girls' Lyceum, and presented with a shoulder spray of roses. For the gathering Miss P. Donaldson, president of Members' Council, welcomed the guest of honour and also referred to the presence of the board of management members and the Y.W.C.A. secretary, M. G. Nelson. An entertaining programme ol items was arranged by Mrs. R. N. Wilson and Mrs. A. Tinker. It comprised songs by Misses J. Rennie and F. Sedon, pianoforte solos by Misses J. Ross and N. Willetts, a violin solo by Mr. Nelson and a pianoforte solo and musical monologue by Mrs. Wilson. Also arranged by Mrs. Wilson was a group game, "Advice to Travellers," which produced some novel solutions to probable situations likely to lace Miss Sim. Presentations were made to her on behalf of the Y.M.-Y.W.C.A. clubs by Mrs. J. Dunn and Mrs. Walker, and jointly from the women's committee and board of management by Mrs. Wilson, the good wishes ol the Wanganui assoeialion and apprev iaiive references to her term of ollii'e in Hie city accompanying the gifts. in reply, Miss Sim thanked I he a - sociation members for their Joyal support and for the pleasure she had derived from her work in the clubs. It was an honour and a privilege Io be going to Geneva, and she fell I hat it would broaden her knowledge of Ihe Y.W.C.A. Opportunity was taken by many of those present to wish Miss Sim "bon voyage" informally in the supper interval that followed.
