Junior Marching Title Won By The Mountain Midgets
Unde r the auspices of the Wanganui Marching Union, the junior marching championships were held on Spriggens Park on Saturday afternoon in the presence of a crowd estimated at 500. The junior title was won by Mountain Midgets (Ohakuno), with 246 points. Blue Troubadours (Wanganui) were runners-up, with 237 points and Broadway (Marton), third, with 227 i points. Miss C. Rush (Mountain Midgets) was judged the best junior leader. The placings in the senior slow march were Warnocks Fusiliers 153 i points, 1; Troubadours, 148 a, 2. Miss B. Hall (Warnock’s Fusiliers) and Miss V. Campbell (Blue Troubadours) shared the honours lor best leader, with 14i points each. The marching throughout was of a high standard and the finale, in which all the teams took part, was colourful and impressive. Music for the marching was provided by the Wanganui Garrison Band and Queen Alexandra Band.
