Pat Abbott Wins Senior Sculls At Wellington Regatta

The annual Wellington provincial rowing regatta was held at the Korokoro course on Saturday. Though a gusty north-easterly wind was blowing offshore, the water was calm and rowing conditions were good. Pat Abbott (Petone), New Zealand ex-champion, scored a fine win from a strong field in the single sculls event. The meeting was well attended, a large crowd gathering on the Petone foreshore. Added interest was provided by the large number of teams competing in most events. There were several exciting finishes, one team winning by only a third of a length, and another by a canvas. Results: — Senior pairs: Blenheim 1. Union 2, Petone 3; two and a-half lengths; a long way. Lightweight maiden fours: Napier 1, Petone 2, Aramoho 3; four and ahalf and one and a-half lengths.
