Rowing with precision and gpod leg drive, the Aramoho Boating Club’s eight oar crew maintained its winning sequence on Saturday at Tauranga, when they won the eight oatrace by two and a-half lengths from the Auckland champions, West End. It was the last-named crew’s first defeat of the current season. After being left at the start, the Aramoho senio r four won in a desperate finish from Waitemata (Auckland). Disaster overtook Schneider and Simonson in the senior double sculls, the pair being swamped after a quarter of a mile had been gone. West End won from Hamilton. Schneider took part in the senior single sculls, a handicap race, but had to concede up to 40 seconds and had to be content with a fourth. G. Plumber (Tauranga), off 40 seconds, won the race by several lengths. It is Schneider’s intention to compete ftt the championships sculls at Karapiro on Saturday. The Aramoho pair oar, L. Clark and T. Preater. were beaten by several lengths in their race by an Auckland pair. The members of the Aramoho Club journeyed to Karapiro on Sunday, and are now in strict training for Saturday’s contests.
