OVERSEAS POSTS

MR. NASH SHAKES HIS HEAD. (P.A.) Wellington, July 31. The Minister of Finance (Mr. Nash) shook his head in the House yesterday and smiled. Mr. R. C. Gerard (Opp., Ashburton) had given notice to ask the Prime Minister whether his attention had been drawn to a suggestion that Mr. Nash might shortly be taking up an important post overseas. “Will the Prime Minister advise the House whether this appointment has been decided on, and if so, will he state how soon it is expected that the Minister of Finance will again go overseas, and whether this appointment will ooviate the necessity for the proposed visit to America of the Minister of Works?” asked Mr. Gerard. Mr. Nash said outside the Chamber that he had never heard of the suggestion.
