'GRANT FOR NEW SCHOOL AT WANGAEHU HAS APPROVAL OF CABINET

Advice that Cabinet has approved a grant for the erection of three classrooms and subsidary accommodation to replace the existing school at Whangaehu has been received from Mr. E. B. Gordon, M.P. for Rangitikei.

Last night Mr. G. N. Boulton, secretary of the Wanganui Education Board, said that for more than two years endeavours had been made to alleviate the position at Wangaehu. The present building was old and dilapidated and could only accommodate two classes, a third having to be accommodated in the local hall.

The new building, added Mr. Boulton, will be erected by contract on the existing site and will make provision for three classrooms.
