“TURN SHIPS ROUND QUICKER" IS ADVICE OF LORD BEVERIDGE
(P.A.) Auckland, May 7. The importance both to Great Britain and to New Zealand of getting ships turned round more quickly at Dominion ports was emphasised by Lord Beveridge. "I do not know whether It is ■through slow handling or not,” he said, "but ships do take much longer to turn round than before. Since ships are the most important things of all. in a sense, it is, of course, lamentable that they should turn round more slowly, no matter whose fault that is.” When asked if he could suggest any means by which New Zealand could help Britain more efficientyl, Lord Beveridge said the obvious means was by getting the ships turned round more quickly. Obviously, also, the more. New Zealand could produce, the more she would help Britain, especially if her products were the things that were short In the world, like food.
