FATAL PARALYSIS CASE IN AUCKLAND BRINGS DEATHROLL TO THREE

(P.A.) Auckland, Jan. 26. The third death from infantile paralysis in the South Auckland health district was reported today. The victim was a youth aged 17. The other fatal cases in the district, a boy aged 13 and an infant, occurred earlier in the month. There have now been 11 deaths since the outbreak began in the middle of November, the other eight having occurred in the Central Auckland district. No positive or suspected cases were admitted to the Auckland Hospital today and the hospital tally of 50 positive and five suspected cases was the same as at the week-end. A woman aged 35 has been admitted to the Waikato Hospital as a suspected case. Two suspects previously admitted have been proved to be negative. A child aged six months who was admitted to the Rotorua Hospital as a suspected case proved to be negative.
