NO OFFER OF WORLD TITLE FIGHT MADE TO WILLIE JONES
(P.A.) Wellington, Jan. 26. No offer to Willie Jones, the American negro boxer at present in New Zealand, to fight Ray Robinson for the world welterweight title exists according to advice received from Willie Ritchie, chief inspector of the State Athletic Commission of California, Los Angeles. The published offer, which was stated to have come in a. cable from Jones’s manager, George White, was referred to Ritchie for confirmation since all the world title fight applications must be lodged with the State Athletic Commission. Ritchie says no offer was made by any promoter for such a match.
