Treloar Sets Record In Winning 220 Yards

Recd. 11 p.m. Melbourne, Jan. 26 John Treloar put up a wonderful performance today when he won the Australian 220 yards championship in the record time of 20.9 secs. He beat the Victorian sprinter John Bartrum by two yards, with the Jamaican, Herb McKenley two yards away third. The world record for the distance is 20.35ec., established by Jesse Owens in 1935. Treloar’s previous best time was 21.2 sec.
